What is Calorie actually?

It is something present in food.

Well, even I was thinking so, when I heard about it.

But, calorie is actually a unit of heat energy. It is something related to energy rather than food.

We eat different kinds of food daily which contains a certain amount of energy (calories). The foods which are highly rich in calories include fats, oil, nuts etc.. The amount of calories needed for a person depends on various constraints such as age, gender, daily activities.
